I still remember those days when i used to work in Mumbai and every few months, when i got a chance i travelled to Indore.

From Mumbai to Indore, and indore to Mumbai - sometimes for just a weekend, sometimes for a few days. When the plan is so sudden, you actually have not time to get a reservation.

Though Avantika is a good train and most of the times punctual, its the Only train between Indore and Mumbai. Due to this its always full. If you don't book your tickets in time, there is a rare chance that you will get a good seat. You can alway go general - but sometime you don't want fun. You just want to go!

Anyways, so Indore to Mumbai journey in itself is special. Whether you are going by Avantika, or by a private bus.

There are many bus agents and travel agencies in Indore that run buses to Mumbai everyday. From RNT marg, Navlakha, Rajendra Nagar and South Tukoganj, you will get Vijayant Travels, Hans Travels, Bhatia Travels, Chhabra Bus, Volvo and more to travel from Indore to Mumbai and back from Mumbai to Indore.

Earlier the roads between Mumbai - Indore were not very good - so a jam or bus wreck was normal. Waiting at khalghat for 3-4 hours have been my destiny for sometime. But now the story is different. With the new road with more lanes and a better surface, its easy as a breeze to travel between the twin cities.

Indore Mumbai travel time is now reduced to a great extent - from almost 12 hrs to 8-9 hours. If you hit the road at right time, you can even beat that 8 hours. Thanks to the government for completing this road project so we can all take a weekend trip to Mumbai whenever we wish!
