| Helmet Gets Mandatory in Indore from January-2011 |

The District Administration is getting rigid to implement Motor Vehicle Act seriously in the city. This includes making Helmet necessary for all two-wheeler riders in Indore. The department will conduct campaigns in Schools and colleges to spread awareness to encourage them for the use of helmet. Citizens will initially persuaded to use helmet necessarily while riding on vehicles but there will also be provisions for fines after some time. A meeting of the heads of Municipal Corporation, Police, PWD has been convened in presence of the District Collector Raghvendra Singh on Wednesday at Residency Kothi. It has been decided that the 10 most crowded squares will be identified initially and developed with Video Cameras and light arrangements. There will be discussions regarding necessity of making helmets mandatory in the city. The Collector has made it clear that the Motor Vehicle Act will be implemented strictly and helmet will be made mandatory for all the bike riders in Indore. The citizens of Indore have very mixed response on this decision. While many are appreciating this initiative, some are complaining of inconvenience riding vehicles with helmets on. Lets see what happens next.
