Measurement bureau of District Administration has raided 24 shops in the city on Tuesday and caught many irregularities. Inspectors from the bureau reached to these Sweets, Namkeens, Paints, and Crackers merchants in the garb of customers and conducted a sudden inspection. This campaign was initiated as a precaution before festival spree. The Inspectors from measurement bureau purchased sweets and checked the weight. Raids were conducted under supervision of Sub Controller K. S. Chauhan. Four of the shops have been booked for selling under-weight material. Many cases were booked for providing insufficient information on packets of sweets, namkeens, paints and crackers. A case has been booked against Asian paints having 2 different quantities printed on its packs: 900ml and 1Ltr both. Many crackers merchants were caught charging abnormal prices. Also health department of Indore Municipal Corporation collected samples from famous sweets shops in Indore. Health committee inspector Rajendra Rathour informed that samples were collected from many shops including Gangour sweets, Agrawal Sweets and Madhuram sweets. Some shopkeepers have been fined on account of cleanliness and anti-hygienic conditions. Disease Inspection Team Came and Camped at MGM Medical College – Indore Team had no visiting schedule till 1 in noon: Health Department had not prepared a schedule for this NICD team.
