I dont think Orkut is safe. in the end it comes down to the user - we have to be vigilant and make sure we dont share all the personal info or anything that we dont want the world to know.

recently the news of murder using orkut (somehow) and the murder on MySpace are few bad examples of web communities...

so use ur own discretion..have fun..
