The first attempt to conduct CAT online has failed on Saturday morning when at most of the centres the online system spewed nothing but bugs. The famous entrance examination for admissions in IIM and other reputed business schools was to be organized online this year. But it seems that the online application was not tested properly which resulted in a great failure and a question on our IT expertise. More than 1500 examinees in eight different cities including Indore, Bhopal and Delhi could not take the examination.

As the exam started in first shift students complained of blank screens and password rejections and the exam was to be cancelled on 11 centres including Indore, Bhopal, Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai, Bangalore and Pune. The exam was conducted in Acropolis College at bypass road, Chameli Devi Institute of Management at Khandwa Road and Swami College Collage in Indore. The American company which is responsible for conducting this exam and NIIT says that all the students will be informed of next schedule by the evening of Sunday through emails and SMSs. The have blemed some technical problems in software failure and excess load on server for this failure. God knows why we had to hire an American company at the first place and how could such blunders take place in this country of IT experts, and be accepted, too.
