As the year end is comes closer, the chances of TCS to get benefits from the tax break are getting lower. TCS can avail tax benefits from Indore project only if the project commences before the end of 2011.

The Rs 1000 crore Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) project was getting delayed due to non-clearance of five acre of temple land on the 100 acre project on the Super Corridor.

Principal secretary (IT) Deepak Khandekar said that by September first week, land allotment letter will be handed over to TCS and state government will try to get the project started at the earliest.

Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan had directed the state and local administration to expedite the land acquisition by July end, so that he would be able to perform the Bhoomipujan for the project by August end. Subsequently 95 acre land was acquired on the Super Corridor and only 5 acre remained to be acquired because of a temple.

"Based on the cabinet decision, the IDA will handover the 100 acre land to state IT department," said IDA CEO Chandramouli Shukla, adding that the IDA board has already agreed in principle to handover the land for the TCS project. Sources said that the estimated cost of the land is Rs 270 crore.

The TCS project, expected to be operational by 2013, will employ more than 25000 people directly and equal number indirectly. This project is the first and the biggest IT project of the state and would play a vital role in the development of Indore.
